Introduction
FME offers extensive support for various Esri-related formats. This article discusses working with Esri-dependent formats in FME and the compatible software versions from Safe Software and Esri.
For information on using FME Flow and Esri ArcGIS Software, please see Using FME Flow with Esri ArcGIS Software for supported options.
Working with Esri Dependent Formats in FME
To use certain formats within FME, it is necessary to have additional software installed and properly licensed on the same machine. Specifically, working with certain Esri formats requires the installation of a supported and licensed version of ArcGIS Pro or ArcGIS Server. For FME Flow, ArcGIS Server must be used. Please see Using FME Flow with Esri ArcGIS Software for more information.
A comprehensive list of ArcGIS-dependent formats can be found here. If you encounter difficulties using an Esri format, please refer to the troubleshooting steps outlined in the Formats Missing, Greyed Out, or Have Unmet Dependencies article.
What is a Supported Version?
FME support will be available for an ArcGIS version until it has been retired by Esri. This means that FME will be backward compatible with Esri versions until that version is retired by Esri unless there is a technical change, such as Python support. Please review Safe Sofware’s support policy for more information about technical and customer support.
Compatible Version of FME for my Installed Esri ArcGIS Software
The table below offers a concise summary of the compatible FME versions for your installed Esri ArcGIS version. It is worth noting that older FME versions might function with Esri versions not explicitly mentioned, but this compatibility is not guaranteed by Safe Software. The FME versions listed in these tables take into account various factors, including Python versions and other limitations, as detailed in the Comments column. It is advised to use the latest available version of FME when possible.
