Full Guide: FME Flow Troubleshooting Guide

Are you encountering issues accessing content or configuring users and roles in FME Flow (formerly FME Server)? Please read below for some common troubleshooting tips, questions and resources.

Content Overview

Initial Troubleshooting

  • If you have access to User Management in FME Flow, or are an admin or superuser, then check permissions for the:
    • User
    • Role
    • Item (for example, repository, resource, automation etc...)
  • Do any of the default user accounts work or provide access?

Common Issues

“I can’t see an item, like a workspace repository or resource folder, in FME Flow.”
Check with the item’s owner, an admin, or superuser if the item has been shared with you. Even though your role may allow you to see the page, you may not be able to see certain items on that page.

“The owner of an item on FME Flow has left our organization. How can I transfer the item to a new user?”
Ownership of items can be transferred by someone with access to the Items page that is found under User Management.

“I have configured an authentication service using Windows Active/Azure Active/Generic Directory, but when I try to add a new user, I’m asked to set a password for them. I want the user to use their credentials from the directory they belong to.”
If you are using a Windows Active/Azure Active/Generic Directory, you need to import the user in FME Flow under User Management > Authentication Services. If you add a new user on FME Flow, you are adding an FME Flow user, not a user from your Directory.

“I want to allow someone to run a workspace without creating an account for them in FME Flow.”
Your best option is to create a workspace app in FME Flow and leave the option “Require Authentication” off. You can then share the link to the app webpage.
“I can't share an item in FME Flow"
If you have Adblock enabled, try pausing it and try again.
