Hand-Written Mapping File .fme Deprecation

Introduction

As of FME 2025.1, hand-written mapping files with the .fme extension can no longer be run in FME or by using the FME Engine command-line interface. These files were the primary means of defining an FME translation prior to the introduction of FME Workbench and do not contain a workspace XML component.

 

Workaround

If these mapping files are still in use, please update workflows to use a translation authored in FME Workbench prior to upgrading to FME 2025.1.
