FME Server with IIS/Tomcat integration: 401 Error

Symptom

When running FME Server with IIS/Tomcat integration, accessing the FME Server via the IIS integration returns a 401 Error. Accessing the Server directly via port 8080 causes no problems.

Cause

The error pages settings are incorrect. By default, the error pages are configured to serve detailed errors for local requests and custom error pages for remote requests. Serving up custom error pages causes the problem.

Resolution

In Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager, go to the feature Error Pages for the website FME Server is installed on. Set the Error Responses to Detailed Errors for each status code.

You should instantly be able to access FME Server from within the web browser.
