Missing Coordinate Systems in FME

Considerations

Some coordinate systems may appear missing from the coordinate system gallery in FME Workbench, or you may not find the coordinate system you expected to find.

Why This Happens

  • Some coordinate system groups may be hidden in your settings.
  • The MyCoordSysDefs.fme file may be missing from <FME HOME>\Reproject, possibly due to a recent upgrade.

How to Resolve It

1. Check Your Coordinate System Visibility

From a transformer or reader where coordinate systems can be accessed, open the Coordinate System Gallery. For example, from the Reprojector transformer, click the drop-down arrow next to Source Coordinate System and click More Coordinate Systems.

At the bottom of the Coordinate System Gallery dialog, click Options and click Select All in the Visible Groups dialog.

2. Verify the MyCoordSysDefs.fme File

Check if your MyCoordSysDefs.fme file is present in:

 <FME HOME>\Reproject\MyCoordSysDefs.fme

If the file is missing, restore it from a backup. FME comes with a default MyCoordSysDefs.fme, but all sample definitions are commented out with #.

3. If You Still Experience Issues

Before upgrading FME, always backup your MyCoordSysDefs.fme file to avoid losing custom coordinate systems. If you are still experiencing issues, contact Support.
