Error while performing SE_stream_execute.:SDE_ERROR_CODE(-51) Numeric value out of range

Symptom

The following error is encountered when reading from an Enterprise Geodatabase sitting on SQL Server using the GEODATABASE_SDE reader.

Error while performing SE_stream_execute.:SDE_ERROR_CODE(-51) Underlying DBMS error. SDE_EXT_ERROR(22003) SDE_ERROR_MSG1([Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0]Numeric value out of range) SDE_EXT_ERROR_MSG2()	

This error can also be displayed when

• Selecting features with a WHERE clause
• Writing to a new feature class that includes building the feature class

Cause

The problem is with the SQL Server client. There is further information here in the Esri forums.

Resolution

Depending on your version of FME the problem can be resolved by reinstalling the 32 bit or 64 bit version of the SQL Server Native Client.
