Symptom

There are several reasons for encountering an invalid Oracle identifier:

  • identifier might be more then 30 characters
  • The Oracle table may have changed since the workspace was created and an attribute no longer exists
  • Specifically for a MI_STYLE identifier:
    • When the Oracle reader was added to the workspace the parameter "Apply MapInfo Symbology" was checked.

If the MapInfo styling attribute does not exist in the Oracle table then you'll get the ORA-00904 error. The MapInfo Style Column may be added to your Oracle tables by MapInfo applications. MI_STYLE store the record styling and FME will automatically map these to the appropriate mapinfo_ format attributes if your writing to MapInfo TAB.
