Introduction

FME Hub and the Safe Community currently share the same login, meaning you only need one username and password to login to both services. On the 16th of October, 2019, FME Cloud will also switch to use that same login. This means that you will now only need one profile to access all of Safe Software’s services!

What do you need to do?

If you already have a Safe Account (FME Hub/Community login)

Step 1: Access the new login page

On the 17th of October, 2019, all FME Cloud users have been sent a migration email (resend email here ). Open the email and click on the 'Start migration' link.

Step 2: Login

Next, you'll be redirected to the Safe Account login. Log in using your Safe Account (FME Hub/Community login) credentials. Note, if you used the link from the migration email, this will work even if your email on Safe Accounts is different from your email on FME Cloud.

Step 3: Complete migration

On logging in, you will be redirected to a page that requests that you enter a migration token. Enter the token from your migration email and proceed with the migration.

If you don’t have a Safe Account

Step 1: Access the new login page

On the 17th of October, 2019, all FME Cloud users have been sent a migration email (resend email here ). Open the email and click on the 'Start migration' link.

Step 2: Signup

Next, you'll be redirected to the Safe Account login. As you do not currently have a Safe Account (FME Hub/Community login) you need to create a new account. Click 'Sign Up' and enter an email (using the same email address as your FME Cloud account), username and password.

Step 3: Confirm email

You will be sent a verification email with the subject 'Please confirm your Safe account'. Open the email and click on the 'Confirm my account' link.

Step 4: Setup profile

Next, you'll be prompted to setup your public profile. For FME Cloud, we recommend setting an Avatar, First Name, and Last Name as these fields are all used.

Step 5: Complete migration

Next, you'll be redirected to a page that requests that you enter your migration token. Open the email with a subject of 'FME Cloud Login Migration' and copy the token into the form and proceed with the migration.

If you logged into FME Cloud using Google

You will still receive a migration email to your Google email. If you didn’t get the email, then click on this link and enter your Google email and we’ll re-send it. Then the same steps as above apply, if you have a Safe Account then you can log in using those credentials, if you don’t, you will need to sign up and create a new account.

You can also sign up to Safe Account with Google. The workflow is almost identical to the steps listed above.

Troubleshooting?

I have an existing FME Cloud account and I created a new account using the new signup. When I log in, instead of seeing my account, I see a Welcome to FME Cloud Page.

You have signed up using a different email to the one you used to login to FME Cloud and we were unable to link them. To link your account, sign out and then click here and enter your FME Cloud email. We’ll send you a link that will merge your Safe Account with your FME Cloud account after you log in.

I am not sure if I already have a Safe Account, what do I do?

You can reset your password to find this out:

  1. Go to the Safe Account login.
  2. Click "Don't remember your password?".
  3. Enter your email.
  4. If you receive an email prompting you to reset your password then you have an account. If you do not receive an email, you do not have an account under that email.

What if I had two-step verification setup on FME Cloud?

You will need to re-configure this on Safe Account as we can’t port this over. The good news is that the new two-step verification workflow is much more user-friendly, it will also mean you have 2-step enabled for all Safe accounts.

Why are we doing this?

Improved user experience

Once you have completed the migration then you will only need to manage one set of credentials for all of Safe’s services. There are also more login options supported on Safe Accounts, so in addition to email/password and Google, you can also login using LinkedIn and GitHub.

Security

The new solution leverages an authentication and authorization platform called Auth0. Auth0 is an enterprise-grade platform that provides security features above and beyond what FME Cloud offered. You can read more about that here. Some of the highlights:

  • Multi-Factor-Authentication

  • View login history across all Safe apps

  • Auth0 maintains and meets the requirements for multiple compliance frameworks and certifications.

What is changing on FME Cloud?

The following functionality will now live on the Safe Account application rather than on FME Cloud:

  • Manage first name and last name

  • Change password

  • View login history

  • Manage multi-factor-authentication
