Question

I want to share my workspace with a colleague or for assistance. I also want to share the data to make the workspace run. Can I save both of these together?

Answer

You can save the workspace as a template file (.fmwt) which will include the source data files as well as the workspace. For details see the documentation here: Saving as a Template.

Note: This method is most useful for file and folder based datasets (e.g. Shapefiles or Geodatabases). For databases, the source data does not get saved in any way. If you want to share this type of data with a colleague who does not have access to the database, you may want to save an export of the data. The Recorder transformer is an excellent tool for this purpose.
