APNS Subscriber Deprecation

Problem

As of FME Server 2020.0 (Build 20182) Apple Push Notification Service (APNS) will no longer be available.

Symptom

Any use of the APNS within workflows in FME Server will no longer work as of FME Server 2020.0. Projects containing the APNS Trigger or Subscription will not be migrated when the project is imported. This includes any backups from previous FME Server versions that are being restored in FME Server 2020.0. Everything else in the FME Server configuration (.fsconfig) or project will be imported as expected.

Solution

Either continue using an FME Server 2019.2 version or older to keep using APNS or switch to a notification service that can push to APNS.

To continue using APNS, migrate all current workflows to another cloud-based messaging service such as Amazon SNS, which can then be set up to push to APNS. For information on connecting to the Apple Push Notification Service via Amazon SNS, please see Amazon’s documentation.
