Issue

After upgrading to macOS Monterey, FME workspaces are failing to run. Error messages can vary depending on what action you are trying, errors can include:

  • Failing to add a reader:
Error running translation. Workspace generation failed. Parameter file was <path>
  • If running via command line, the error may state "segmentation fault"

Resolution

This issue has been resolved in FME 2021.1.3.1 build 21635 or newer: safe.com/downloads

If you are needing to work with an older version of FME on macOS Monterey, we have a patch attached to this article to allow legacy versions of FME work:

  1. Download the attached file libtcmalloc_minimal.4.dylib.zip and unzip the file:
  2. Patch the legacy version of FME you are looking to use. As an example from the Terminal:
    sudo cp ~/Downloads/libtcmalloc_minimal.4.dylib /Library/FME/<version of FME>/fmecore
