Esri ArcObjects Error Number '-2147216556': Versioned Geodatabase

Symptom

Receive the error below when inserting or updating data in a versioned Esri Geodatabase.

2010-05-06 11:32:55| 911.9| 0.0|ERROR |An error occurred while attempting to open an insert cursor on the table 'SDE.FEATURETYPENAME'. The error number from ArcObjects is: '-2147216556'. The error message from ArcObjects is: {ArcObjects has not yet been initialized}
 

Resolution

This error occurs when you are attempting to insert or update data in an Esri Geodatabase Feature Type which is versioned or requires an Edit Session to modify.

Set the Geodatabase Writer Advanced Parameter "Transaction Type" to "Edit Session" or "Versioning" depending on the kind of Geodatabase that you are using.
