Where to Start

Troubleshooting FME Form (formerly FME Desktop) cases can be challenging. If you’ve encountered an issue with FME Form, there are steps that you can take to provide more information to the support team. Please review the following information to ensure we can work together to resolve the issue quickly.

In 2023, FME Desktop underwent a name change and is now known as FME Form. Since this article is for all versions of FME Form and FME Desktop, it will refer to both names interchangeably, using the appropriate product name based on the year the feature was introduced. Some of the resources referenced in this article will also use the names interchangeably as we work to update our content. For more information on the rebranding, see our website

What to Include

A great support case starts with the information provided. For a typical FME Form workspace case, the files to include are:

  • Your FME workspace file (*.fmw)
  • A sample of your source data
  • The FME translation log file (if applicable)

However, there could be some other issues you are encountering with FME Form or could better refine the support case you are creating.
Use the below links to find what additional information to provide depending on the problem:

Running an FME Workspace

If you encounter an issue when you are running a workspace, it is helpful to narrow down where the issue is occurring. This will help us in the troubleshooting process.
Please follow the Debugging Guide for Workspaces to debug your workspace and define the issue. The purpose of the article linked is to help you narrow down the problems to find what is really happening in your workspace.

Be sure to include:

  • Your FME workspace file (.fmw)
  • A sample of your source data
  • The FME translation log file (found typically in the same directory as your FMW file, for more information see Viewing the Log documentation).

Opening FME Workbench or FME Data Inspector

You may come across a dialog pop-up error when starting up FME Workbench or FME Data Inspector or running a workspace.
Please review Debugging FME Workbench Has Stopped Working Error to gather more information.

For these type of cases, be sure to include the following:
